# What you'll need:
→ Cake
01 - 1 large store-bought plain sheet cake, approximately 9x13 inches, vanilla or chocolate
→ Filling
02 - 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
03 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
→ Decorations
05 - 1 and 1/2 cups ready-to-spread vanilla or chocolate frosting
06 - Assorted colored gel food coloring
07 - Assorted holiday sprinkles, mini candies, and edible decorations
08 - 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips, optional
# Method:
01 - In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
02 - Remove the cake from packaging and trim edges if necessary to form a neat rectangle. Place cake on parchment paper, level the top by slicing off any dome. With short side facing you, gently roll the cake with parchment into a log, then unroll to create a memory for easier rolling.
03 - Spread the whipped cream filling evenly over the cake surface, leaving a 1-inch border all around. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the filling if using. Roll the cake tightly from the short end using parchment paper as a guide. Wrap in parchment and refrigerate at least 30 minutes for cleaner slices.
04 - Divide frosting into bowls and tint with assorted gel food colorings to create sweater patterns. Spread a base layer of frosting evenly over the roll. Use piping bags or zip-top bags with snipped corners to pipe zigzags, dots, lines, and whimsical designs. Adorn with sprinkles, mini candies, and other edible decorations.
05 - Cut the decorated cake roll into 1-inch slices and serve.
