04 - Stir together oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add melted butter, mixing until large clumps form. Distribute evenly over apple filling.
05 - Transfer pan to center rack and bake for 38–42 minutes, or until topping is golden and apples are tender.
06 - Allow bars to cool completely in pan before lifting and slicing. Serve at room temperature or gently warmed.

01 -
  • Uses simple pantry ingredients you probably already have
  • Perfect way to use up apples that are past their prime
  • Easy enough for beginners and great to bake with kids

02 -
  • Naturally vegetarian and easily made dairy free
  • Delicious both warm and at room temperature
  • Stores beautifully at room temperature or in the fridge
03 -
  • For maximum crumble leave large and small clusters as you sprinkle the topping and do not press them down Too much handling makes them dense
  • Use parchment to line the pan so you can lift the whole batch out easily I learned the hard way that slicing before fully cool will make the filling run out so be patient for picture-perfect bars
